How to refill HP 41 ink cartridges easily ~ The HP 41 inkjet tricolor ink cartridge (5161a) can be refilled very easily, and we’re about to to show you how to do this procedure at your own home. You should know this is a very good ink cartridge, and ihat it will make colors look very well on any documents you want to print.

Usually, you can achieve very good printing quality with these ink cartridges on regular A4-sized paper sheets, the same kind of paper you can buy at a normal office supply store. The Hp 41 tricolor ink cartridge yields up to 400 pages, and we estimate they can be refilled up to five (5) times.

Also, damaging their print heads is a very difficult thing to do, due to their resistant interior design. You can refill this cartridge with dyed or pigmented inks, but the new ones are filled with dyed ink, which you can buy at any printer shop. You can use this same kind of ink on HP, canon and lexmark cartridges.

Please remember you can contact us anytime you’re going to refill an ink cartridge; we will be happy to help you. This cartridge is compatible with the following printer models: HP deskjet 1000c, 870c, 855c, 830c, and 820c series; HP officejet pro 1150c; HP color copier 110 and 120; and HP color copier 160.

These are the things you’ll need to refill your HP 41 tricolor ink cartridge:

  • Three (3) ink colors.
  • One syringe ffor every ink color. Do not use the same syringe for more than one or all of them.
  • Also, you will need a few plugs like the ones in the next picture. If you can’t find them, we recommend you seal the cartridges with a little bit of hot silicone. This can be removed in the future.

Refill procedure for the HP 41 tricolor ink cartridge:

Step #1:
First of all, have the cartridge facing upwards and place it on a dark piece of cloth that you don’t mind getting stained with ink. We also recommend you let it rest it on a flat surface that you can clean easily.

Warning: Do not be led astray by the colors displayed on the front of the cartridges. These are not the actual ink colors inside the cartridge. In the next picture, we’ll show you where they’re really located.

Step #2:
Then, you will need to remove the ink plugs located at the very top of the ink cartridges. You can do this by pushing these plugs back inside the cartridge. Doing this won’t compromise the cartridge’s functioning at all. The next picture will show you how they look, so please take a good look at it.

Step #3:
Once you’ve sunk the plugs into the cartridge, you must to identify each ink color in it. We recommend you always ignore the colors shown in the label , and to never use them as reference, much like we stated at the beginning of this post.

This can cause you to damage your ink cartridges, so please avoid it by all means.

The next picture will show you the proper color placement on your ink cartridge. You can see this by putting the cartridge on the same position you would if you were to install it on your printer. If you need any help with this, don’t hesitate in contacting us.

Step #4:
Now that you’ve identified all the ink colors properly, you may proceed to adding the ink to the cartridge. You will need to add 5ml of ink to a syringe in order to do this. In this case, we suggest you use a syringe that has a large needle, since these colors cartridges are a bit deep.

When refilling an ink cartridge, we always recommend you disperse the ink you inject into it. By this we mean you should ninject ink in more than one place in the cartridge, adding about 2ml of ink to the very bottom of it, and apply the rest of it slowly as you pull the needle out.

Remember to do this as delicately and softly as possible to make sure the cartridge gets all the ink its needs. If there are air bubbles inside the syringe, then don’t add the last few milliliters of ink to the HP cartridge.

Step #5:
You may now proceed to seal the ink cartridge with silicone, like we mentioned earlier. The original ink plugs can be very hard to find if you don’t refill cartridges professionally and can afford to buy large quantities of them. We suggest you use silicone because it can be removed easily in the future. Please take a look at the following picture.

We recommend you do this exact same procedure on all HP cartridges of the same type as this one: all of these cartridges work with the same kind of ink, which has fast-drying agents that act as soon as they come in contact with air Sealing or covering the ink cartridge will stop the ink from drying faster than it should.

Step #6:
Finally, we recommend you let your cartridge rest for at least a couple of hours, allowing the ink to spread inside it. Once you’ve installed them, please have the ink cartridges cleaned by using the printer’s own system. doing this will grant you good printing quality in your future printing jobs.
